The first time I've ever be disappointed by a Cole project. Buddy missed the mark.

I think cole put out a solid project, does have lot of filler, but this one of better produced cole albums with the down south influences
I feel he has 8-10 solid tracks on it that go, like i said, had it been 12 tracks it would went from good project to prolly his best project or closest to 2014 FHD.

Out of the 24 tracks I only really like about 9. I can't fathom how this is possible.

After a few more listens, mostly same opinion. The good and great songs are even better but the ones I can pass on are close to forgettable.

The rest of the songs range from mid to cool but some of those are the ones you can cut to make one album.
What If is a cool song but it's corny. That AI version is even cornier to me. Like ***** you at best was just a fan back then making up stories in your head about 2 dead legends reconciling that you ain't ever met to make this song. Plus some of what he said was straight bull ****. It would've been way way way waaaaaayy more creative if the song was about Kendrick and Drake. What if you didn't apologize?, what if you kept going?, how you see their issues and what you know, how it all fell a part, why they went that far?, why that ***** sue?, etc.
I felt almost the same way about I Love Her Again. Totally unoriginal and not creative given its been done and copied but the concept will always be cool and he told it from his perspective so it was ight.
There were just a bit too many chill and vibe songs on this and it's fine if an album is going to be that way but then the hooks and choruses have to be much much better. Too many Safetys (got Tribe vibes from this tho), Drum N Bass, Only Yous, Man Up Aboves, etc. He had some cheat codes with Burna Boy, Erykah, and Tems to fight that but not enough.
Pet peeve of mine but I'll never be a big fan of just using somebody's classic hook/chorus with a few things changed. He did it with Outkast, DMX, Devin the Dude, etc. Cole doing that so much just kinda said to me I don't got it like that with catchy and good hooks. All it makes me want to do is listen to the original but that ain't just a Cole thing. Too much of what rap does now is reuse the same classic beats, samples, and hooks with not much distinction from what they're reusing and they're rarely if ever better.

Legit might hate “What If” but I respect that he did at least *try* to flow the verses in Big and Pac’s rhyme cadences.

I only heard like the first 7 tracks off the New Cole but them joints was fire I could tell already this might be a classic. I don’t really be on Cole like that so this is refreshing from the NYC drill lol

I wish I was in a decade plus earlier, because I could mess around and crop songs, rip them, and play them on every device. Because I think I found how I would have done the Disc 29 album.
Came out to 10 songs, 37 minutes for Disc 1.
I shuffled around the tracklist. I would cut the last 1 minute 30 seconds of WHO TF IZ U (the beat change is unenjoyable), cut all of Drum n Bass (feels like a filler), cut Lonely at the Top (has zero energy to it), and build an instrumental introduction fitting for the last verse of Hit The Gas to end Disc 29.
Wouldn't mind keeping the rest of Bombs in the Ville and the first part of Hit the Gas, but it isn't totally necessary and would need to be separated from that last verse.
