I'll address "pick and choose" though because I believe the explanation for that one should be common sense AND appreciated by those that violate the rules. Of course, I can see why you're mad. You were chosen when others may not have been.
Yes, sometimes I edit or delete posts with profanity and other times I issue warnings. Sometimes I'll delete a thread and leave it at that while other times I'll lock and ban. For me, and I'm sure others, it's about time and context.
If I'm low on time, I'm taking the easiest way out (delete posts: see booty/breast threads).
If someone has a history of offenses, is a new member (we just asked them to review our rules), or a long time member (should know better), I'll take that into account.
These things are rarely black and white and people shouldn't expect it to be. I notice that the ONLY people expecting things to be black and white are those that have been caught.
Fortunately, the other 95% of members either understand how a message board ran by humans works, accepts it, or both.
