Yeah the second half is better than the first. Not gonna lie--NYSOM3 and Welcome To The Underground are not good at all. Like I'll probably never listen to those again.
Everything else I'm not mad at.Honestly, I feel like this is an album for those who actually grew up on Gangstarr, which is me. I can hear Guru floating over a lot of this production. Totally understand younger folks not feeling this. I'm loving it though.

Yeah I feel the same way. Nas really got eras in his career and I feel like a lot of the folks disappointed might have tuned their ears to Nas during the Hitboy run. I wouldn’t think people that came up on Illmatic and Stillmatic would feel the same way.Yeah the second half is better than the first. I hate generalizations… I’m an old head who’s pretty much been rocking with Nas since Live at the BBQ. Album is not good imo, and Nas isn’t the problem … these beats just ain’t it dawg.
Maybe someone can come along and remix these joints, songs have potential.
We can agree to disagree though.

Thats fair, I’m not trying to generalize or dismiss your opinion, just trying to understand the split in the fanbase a little. It’s pretty clear that this album is divisive, and I’m not sure why.
But I definitely see a lot of folks bringing up HitBoy, and it’s just kinda like we he had his run. Can we enjoy this, too? Well at least those of us that do.

got into Nas when Hate Me Now released, had I Am and Nastradamus in middle school. Stillmatic was the first Nas album I bought the day it came out. I enjoyed God’s Son and Hip Hop is Dead as well as Streets Disciple.
The Hit Boy albums were some of the best I’ve ever heard Nas. Hit Boys beats IMO were pretty diverse, two examples of great beats from the tenure. Speechless was one hell of a way to start an album. The Premo beats feel like a generic version of old Premo . Was hoping this album would prove me wrong but I fear my feelings were right.

It’s literally only been one album since Hitboy and they crying like this.
Time to move on.
Not sure if Nas fans or just haters whining in disguise. Nas should slap yall in the face with a Salaam Remi triple disc album next.

A lot of Cats expecting Preme to be not Preme or something. He’s not hit boy. If you don’t like boom bap just say that. Album was solid.

Ran the album back 3x's today. Maybe it's just me, but the first half of this album feels like a Gangstarr album but Nas fills in for Guru.

Nah. Let’s not do that because I like boom bap and this was mediocre solely because of him. It really is like Hakeem on the Raptors or Ewing on the Magic. Preme is big washed up and it alright to be honest.

Preemo's recent projects this year with Ransom and Roc Marciano were ok but not great. With Light Years, he hit it out the park after being down 0-2.
