Has anyone else been using StockX?

Wow that's crazy. I sent like 5 things last week. No issues. I usually sell older pairs as well since that's what I'm mainly trying to get rid of and no issues.
Very crazy , the first pair of shoes that I sold via the platform were a year older than these that they did decided to be nefarious on . No issues with the intial pair either .

I've seen cases where shoes will fail verification because they claim there's a defect but the same pair gets passed when it gets sent back by a different seller. They're so inconsistent. I guess it depends on the employee who is checking that day.

I did that a while ago. They sent me back a pair of shoes saying that they were worn (when they clearly weren’t). I got them back, listed them again for more (to recoup my return shipping fee and just to make me feel less pissed off). They sold and passed the check, even though I didn’t do anything to the shoes after I got them back.

I have been selling a ton of old stuff, most my doubles and triples of things from like 10-13 years ago. I'm shocked at how well that stuff sells, I'm pretty sure if anyone wears it they will fall apart.
I started to get worried about that too, even the potential for yellowing - I sold some Space Jam XIs 2009 for that reason 2yr ago, I figured there's no way they can last much longer.

Meh. 37 pairs is an incredibly small # when looking at their volume. Not excusing it, but that number doesn't move the needle for me.

They weren't checking every single transaction. Nike had a couple prominent collectors reach out to them, then tried themselves to catch them out. For all we know they only checked 50 pairs...

They were quick on the response....

But trying to twist it - sure 37 pairs is low, out of the millions sold... but how many pairs Nike actually checked is important. If they checked 100 pairs and you got a 37% error rate, then its Game Over...

Stockx will argue only a few pairs that people were concerned about, were "audited" by Nike (if that's the right term).... Ok - but I can't be the only person whose had a pair and just not felt right about them? I'm in Europe so we always had the right to return, its a law in the EU. I have still bought many, I have sold many, but there's been twice over the years I've just been suspicious of a pair... so I've sent them back. One of those, I bought another pair of the same shoe the next day, and they were fine - making me even more suspicious of the first pair.
I've also had a legit pair rejected as seller. I even had the order email from the store. Thats me with maybe 50 buys and 70 sells over the years, and I've got 3 sketchy transactions from my personal experience. That anecdotal I know, but it ain't a good ratio.

It seems weird to accuse Stock X of selling fakes when they don't sell shoes, unless they're alleging SX was posing as 3rd party sellers and moving fakes.

It's not about StockX actually selling the product. They serve as the middle man whose job is supposed to be to inspect the sellers product for authenticity before passing it on to the buyer. I would imagine Nike using the word selling fakes legally can come from StockX also making money from the process.

SX semantic game on par with Nikes :lol I wouldn't put it past SXto receive drop shipments of fakes and fulfill orders,, but that's just me.

Ehh they are buying from one person and selling to another so they absolutely sell shoes.
The Terms and Conditions make it clear that is not the case. They are the intermediary, matching a buyer with a seller and taking a cut for the service. No different to eBay over the years in that respect.
What was revolutionary about StockX was that they did Authenticity Verification at the same time. Those of us who were buying and selling back in the early 00s know, it used to be the wild west out there... StockX made distance selling less of a headache.

The entire case is built upon them taking this cut on reselling and making money on incorrect authentication.

Now, you might wonder why Nike cares?
Some of their kicks probably get misrepresented all across the globe every day, in-person. Are they wanting to do the authentication themselves? Cos they don't offer it right now...
If its because they don't like someone else making a cut on their shoes selling above resale... well, make more! Or provide your own marketplace.
Rolex have done this. They tried hard to stop people buying a Rolex at 9k and turning round and selling it for 15k the next week, but ultimately there's no definitive way to stop it. So now they've set up their own resell and verification service. Through their authorised dealers only, you buy a 2nd hand Rolex and they've both legit-checked it AND serviced it, so they're trying to get in on the resale market by winning people's custom.

But unless Nike does the same and provides a resale and/or authentication service, I really don't see what their end game is.
If StockX goes under... well first of all there is still GOAT, and I'd say that's bad for everyone because then there is no competition in the market. But if both went, if Nike kills the resell market.... well one of the first things to happen is they'll get stuck with a lot more unsold shoes. Lots of people will buy up shoes, then if they can't get them moved in 7 days, just return them. Thats how it used to work. I did it all the time. I once made 20 custom Kobe shoes just to sell, 3 people pulled out, so I just returned them. The Kobe AD Black History month were a custom build, and they're $1,800 now, I wish I'd made a bunch of them. As StockX has grown, Nike has seen more of their shoes across a size run sell out. That'll stop if StockX dies off.

They can add whatever they want to their terms to try to skirt responsibility but the fact remains they buy from one person and sell to the other. When I buy a pair of shoes, I'm paying StockX for them and StockX is sending them to me. Your local reseller sells shoes. StockX sells shoes.

Who charges your card when you buy? Who ships them to you? There's no debate to be had. StockX buys and sell shoes. That's just a fact. They are the world's largest sneaker reseller.
They don't keep the purchase price of the shoes. Your 1099 at the end of the year says dblplay1212 not SX and you pay taxes, hypothetically, on the sale.

It says StockX bc I sold the shoes to StockX. If I sold them to StockX, StockX had to sell them to the buyer.

StockX is no different than your local reseller. They buy from one person and sell to the other. Hell they are no different than FootLocker in that aspect. Both buy from one entity and sell to another. Saying StockX doesn't sell shoes is laughable. They are the buyer. They are the seller.
