I wasn’t looking for new Kanye music, but I would be a bold face liar if I didn’t want him to get himself in order.
First bar that stood out was the white queen/mlk one and I probably should’ve turned it off there. At the end of the day, he has certainly put his foot in his mouth at every possible opportunity it seems, and he has certainly made some remarks that have offended me.
My issue is, what I liked about him early was that he spoke from an unfiltered perspective. I don’t think you can get on a telethon and say “George Bush doesn’t care about black people” without being a bit off in the head

I always liked his semi conscious but fun and trying to get on raps. He had a chip on his shoulder and made music counter to the usual hyperbole ridden gangsta raps.

I honestly don’t see the comparison especially if the topic is hip hop let alone black culture.
MTV had TRL as far as music videos. You’d watch artists perform during the spring break shows. Yo MtV Raps got cancelled too early and MTV Unplugged wasn’t really consistent. Then there was Real World and the Challenge. What else? Cribs? Pimp My Ride? Jackass? Bam? Next? The more I name the less it is hip hop
BET had Hits on the Street, Video Soul, Teen Summit, Comic View, Cita’s World, a random top 25 countdown, and Rap City all before 106 & Park. After school (depending on if you went directly home) you got like a 3 hr block of music videos, pure hip hop culture. Sure it was the mainstream and commercialized hip hop & R&B acts somewhat on repeat but it was way better than MTV.
There are too many classic moments on Rap City alone to seriously compare to MTV. Don’t got a clue what Hed is on talking about he preferred Laguna Beach or w/e tf he was watching
