Anybody here have sleep apnea, or sleep apnea induced narcolepsy? Diagnosed or undiagnosed.

I ain't gon hold you I am sure I have sleep apnea, did do a sleep study decades agp and they claim negative but I know. And it's typically weight related but I had the issue existed too when I wasn't/am not currently obesity.

But the issue, having a meeting at work the big boss, the one who I googled and it says makes like base 13Ms before optons and bonuses is coming to town and we all have to go to the downtown office for a series of all day meetings and I already know I am not set up for this. Don't want to get myself fired falling asleep in front of people. I work from home so occassional doze offs don't hurt nobody but again boy I know they gon' be up there making up watch some powerpoint or tombout some company culture BS and my battery be like boy bye! and go into power save mode quick.

I'm thinking I am going to have to just call in sick the whole time, could stand up and/or get up and pee every 7 minutes. I used to try to hold the phone in your hand thing but I'd just fall asleep and drop it and draw more attention to myself and now I am embarasssed and got a cracked phone screen.

I had to get a sleep study done to determine what it was. My doctor didn’t think I had sleep apnea and it was determined that most of my problems were because I needed to get my tonsils removed. You might want to go to your primary care and have a new sleep study done since it could be something different.

I would recommend that you stand up on the back of the room and just tell everyone that you tweaked your back and need to keep standing. That will buy you time to get through the meeting before you can get another sleep study done.

tr1ll tr1ll i have a high caffeine tolerance, addixt level but yea definitely gonna be spamming energy drinks and stimulants. Maybe a preworkout actually

mplsdunk mplsdunk yea I got the “he looks like he could be dealing with a sports or gym injury” build so I could use the my knee / back hurts when I sit

DCAllAfrican DCAllAfrican I work in IT so everybody’s some kind of weird/autistic/socially awkward. If the worse they can parse about me is yea OKC dude likes to stand up all day I’d call that a win. Dont get me started on kats in the office and their dolls all over the place

aepps20 aepps20 that’s interesting I wonder if thats my problem. I have aetna basic ***** insurance so that aint covered but good to know. My parents both got cpaps and i know people who get them say its life changing getting quality, restorative sleep for the first time and they had like accepted a baseline level of normal or rested that turns out wasnt even close

TSCQ TSCQ whats is that, a herpes medicine

ryda421 ryda421 i think tbe problem is too much real estate for my blood to cover

I was diagnosed with mild sleep apnea back in 2024, seems to be a mix of modifiable and non-modifiable risk factors for me.

Doctor tells me I have a fat tongue, a small mouth, and a deviated septum so I’m just a victim of God deciding to build me like an English Bulldog.

The good news is I’m not overweight and that it seems like one of the biggest exacerbating factors was my alcohol consumption. Once I quit drinking my wife told me I stopped snoring almost entirely.

I have a CPAP, but I struggle to tolerate it these days. I wear it maybe 2 hours a night before I decide I’ve had enough. I just try not to sleep on my back when it’s off because as soon as I hit a deep sleep my tongue relaxes and closes off my airway. The problem is corrected by sleeping on my side, so I just end up doing that.

Once I quit drinking and learned to modify my sleeping position my sleep quality improved tremendously.

Regardless of your healthcare plan, you have coverage. I recommend a second opinion on getting excessive snoring and low energy levels. Also consider looking into your current diet, if you majority of your daily intake consists of sugar and carbs, it's almost a guarantee that will crash during the day.

Otherwise, you prepare your body to sleep earlier and ensure that you have enough snacks, caffeine, to get you through the meeting.

I have sleep apnea and a CPAP machine has helped me sleep straight through the night and stop my snoring.

I never been fired for it, but a couple times got close and one time kind of didnt get promoted because of it and I got time to kill on the clock and I am awake so I'll drop

One time we were getting laid off, so goes the life of a contractor but at least this company told us ahead of time (they often dont) so we knew Dec 10 was our last day. Lucky me, there's a job on an adjacent contract opening up because the current occupant just went Government and even though we have 2 other guys over there with the experience in this particular location and its implementation (It was essentially a System Admin but on the Air Force Base so everything is still very properietary and custom) I was the only one with the reguisite quals (old *** Windows 7 Server cert still doing numbers) to get it so the plan was I am going to after Dec 10, move into said spot.

The guy I'm replacing is the Boss of the 3 of them over there but I wasnt even looking at it like that, however I think they were and understandably felt like how this new ***** get to come over here and just right into HNIC spot with no experience and we been here so I felt that energy from them off top. I was supposed to spend my last pre Dec 10 days over with them following them around to learn what they do, then afte the 10th the job I was at would go away, T over there with them would become a CIVILIAN and I'd slot into his space, but they hated from jump street literally didnt even have me sit in the office with them (like at T's desk would have made sense or hell I'm new give me the worst of the 3 desks) but had me instead in the classroom where the Airmen would go jump on the computer to check their emails, fill out prdeployment paperwork, etc and said they'd just come get me when they went to do something. They never did. I'd peek in there and theyd be gone and I'd ask the other CIVy and he'd tell me they went to the server room. It was a SCIF so wasnt like I could just go catch up with them. They clearly wasn't ******* with your boy or the idea of me.

Then I get a call from the Supervisor that I am being let go let go and not transfered then let go and can just go home because he was told that leadership got a picture of me sleep at the desk. He asked me if I did it and in hindsight I could have just said no since he didnt even produce said photos, but he was just like, "You can just go home now," and took my ID card. Told me I was a nice enough guy, just f'd myself over and caught a raw deal. It was still like 2 weeks before the last day so he was doing me a super solid, telling me I can go home and sleep or whatever the **** and look for another job and they'll still pay me til the end of contract. Woopti whoop whoop, I get a better position with higher clearance and better pay and 4 days remote where I still am now

TLDR: Was supposed to be laid off then get a promotion to a lateral/step up position
My new coworkers wasnt keen on the idea of me stepping in
Sabotaged me
Lied on me (maybe)
I got just laid off and nix the lateral/step up position

funny I got contacted by a recruiter from a major aerospace/DOD contractor and they offering some commas but fully on site and at their HA not on base. I interviewed there for a position that pays literally 1/4th as much about 7 years ago and knew Id hate it there, no way Id take this job even for this check because I know Id be fires in a month. But i told them submit me, want high ups to see my resume then tell them no, maybe they got an ace in their hat (ie some wfh days)
